June Bank Holiday – Monday June 6th
Ireland Bikefest is an international festival for motorcycles owners in association with Harley Davidson. There are guided and non guided ride outs throughout the magnificent county of Kerry where you can enjoy the glorious views of the lakes and mountains. This festival is suitable for all ages and is combined with music which is free to access on the outdoor stage. Over 30,000 in attendance last year, and this year promises to be bigger than ever.
August Bank Holiday Monday August 1st
Every summer the town of Killarney comes alive with the fantastic Killarney Summerfest, celebrated this year from July 27th to August 5th. Set in a region of breathtaking valleys, lakes and mountains, Summerfest’s varied programme of outdoor activities for children makes it a big attraction for families keen to make the most of their summer holidays.
In the evenings, both children and adults are spoilt for choice with entertainment on the streets that includes performances by world famous street musicians, puppeteers, magicians and comedians. Festival-goers will also get the chance to dance an Irish jig or two when the finest local youth groups perform contemporary and Irish music in Killarney Park. There will be a number of brass band performances throughout the festival, including recitals by the fabulous Gleneagle Concert Band. Make sure not to miss out!
October Bank Holiday Monday October 31st
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, look no further than the INEC as they have lined up a brilliant weekend of music. The Fureys and Davey Arthur start the Bank Holiday entertainment with what promises to be a storming set on October 26th. The Horslips take to the stage on Saturday October 27th, and since their triumphant return in 2009 the Celtic Rockers have wowed audiences across the country. Brendan Bowyer will be offering an Evening of Nostalgia in the Gleneagle Ballroom on Saturday October 27th.
Celebrating 49 years on the road, The Wolfe Tones will be in the Acoustic club on Sunday evening October 28th. The Wolfe Tones new studio album Child of Destiny has been launched. The Wolfe Tones continue to be one of the most creative folk groups of all time.
Finishing up the weekend will be the ever popular Gina, Dale Haze and The Champions. They will perform some of their greatest hits in the Gleneagle Ballroom on Sunday October 28. The INEC is located less than 1km from Killarney’s town centre and is in close proximity to The Malton hotel. Make sure not to miss this phenomenal weekend!
