Great Southern Killarney is ideally located right in the centre of Killarney town and is situated directly adjacent to the Killarney Train Station (having originally been built as The Railway Hotel, latterly called the Great Southern Killarney before being renamed at The Malton in 2007 and returning to Great Southern Killarney in 2018) and is within minutes’ walk from the Killarney Bus Station. The hotel has ample car parking and is surrounded by 6 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. For retired travellers seeking culture and adventure Killarney is the ideal destination, a bikers and walkers haven, there is plenty to experience such as picturesque Torc Waterfall, Ross Castle and Muckross House & Farms.

The magnificent Killarney National Park can be accessed from Killarney town and is just 5 minutes’ walk from Great Southern Killarney. County Kerry is renowned as a golfers paradise and the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club is but a short drive from Great Southern Killarney, it consists of 3 courses with views overlooking beautiful Loch Lein. With the town of Killarney on our doorstep, Great Southern Killarney provides a shopper’s haven with the Killarney Outlet Centre based across the road from the hotel’s main entrance and the shops such as the Kilkenny Store, Quills Woollen Market and a host of local Irish craft shops within walking distance.

Many of our retired guests hold very fond memories of disembarking the train at Killarney in their youth and calling into the Great Southern Hotel for Afternoon Tea with local relations and friends and indeed that tradition still holds strong today as Great Southern Killarney is still renowned for gastronome. Our Active Retirement Breaks all feature gourmet dinner in The Garden Room. The hotel is also home to Brownes Bar which offers light bar food from 12pm to 9.30pm each day and houses The Whiskey Corner. The Wine Room has a dedicated self-explore enomatic wine system for guests to enjoy tasting the impressive array of wines on display and our experienced sommelier will be delighted to assist to find the perfect wine for your evening meal.

Our retired guests also enjoy full access to the  Health Club at Great Southern which features a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, Monsoon shower, 15m swimming pool. The Health and Beauty Rooms offer a range of massages, facials and beauty treatments from our professional, welcoming beauty therapists. There are outdoor tennis courts within the hotel’s gardens available for guests’ use.
