Irish Soda Farls

Irish Soda Farls


450 grms Plain Flour
¾ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1 tsp Brown Sugar
1/3 tsp Salt
1 tsp Rapeseed Oil
450/500 mls Valentia Buttermilk


- Pre heat a griddle pan (ensure not smoking)
- Take all the dry ingredients & pass through a sieve
- Make a well & add in approx. 400mls of Buttermilk, mix well (if dough is a little thick add remaining buttermilk)
- Knead on a lightly floured surface for 1 minute
- Shape into a large flat cake & cut into four pieces
- Place on the griddle pan & cook for approx. 5/6 mins on each side, being careful not to burn.
- Serve with lots of butter
