No trip to Killarney would be complete without visiting the world-famous National Park. Luckily, Great Southern Killarney is located just a 5-minute walk away. Twinned with Glacier National Park in Montana, USA, Killarney National Park is designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Spread over 25,000 acres, Killarney National Park is made up of an incredible combination of mountains, lakes, woodland and waterfalls.

Kerry International Dark-Sky Reserve

The only Gold Tiered Dark Sky Reserve in the whole of the Northern Hemisphere, Kerry Dark-Sky Reserve is a once in a lifetime experience, which allows visitors to see thousands of stars and the majesty of the Milky Way. Organised stargazing tours are available.

Take on Ireland's Highest Peak - Carrauntoohil

Great Southern Killarney is located at the base of the famous Kerry Mountains. At the centre of this incredible mountain range, is Ireland’s highest peak, Carrauntoohil, which stands at 1039m. Guided walks, hikes and climbs of the Kerry Mountains to suit all levels run throughout the year.

Enjoy a Traditional Jaunting Tour

Choose to view Killarney's Historic Sites and National Park with a relaxing Jaunting Car trip, a traditional horse-drawn carriage famous in the Killarney Valley for over 200 years. Sit back and soak in the stunning scenery and enjoy the tales from your local Jarvey, (which is the name of your driver). Trips can be organised on a number of routes, including pickup outside the hotel.
