Following a most cheerful and relaxing meal, an evening concert of heart-warming Christmas carols takes place in Great Southern Killarney’s historic foyer. The evening culminates with a late serving of warming mulled wine and mince pies, just perfect for those guests who will be braving the elements to attend midnight celebrations.
Christmas Day- Begin Christmas morning with a hearty start at Great Southern Killarney’s Christmas Day Brunch. Thereafter enjoy the excitement of gift giving in your private room or gather friends and family in a cosy corner of one of our beautiful antique resident lounges. Following on from gift giving gather for an early or late Christmas lunch complete with all the traditional festive fare in the luxurious Garden Room restaurant. Join the in the anticipation and excitement of a visit from Father Christmas to the delight of our junior guest, who each receive a bespoke gift and most importantly revel in some festive fun with Santa Claus. Following an afternoon of enjoyment with old friends and new, enjoy the final hours of Christmas night with musical entertainment and when slumber calls, retire to your bedroom for a peaceful night’s sleep.
St. Stephen’s Day- Begin your day with a leisurely and late running brunch. A welcome outing of a mystery tour showcasing the beauty of county Kerry is arranged for this afternoon. On return to Great Southern Killarney, indulge in the time honoured tradition of Afternoon Tea which has been tempting guests since Great Southern Killarney opened in 1854. While away the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure by perhaps opting for a visit to Great Southern Killarney's leisure centre or taking an amble through the streets of Killarney town. After such an active day, a well-deserved and delicious St. Stephen's Day dinner is served. Thereafter, live musical entertainment in Brownes Bar is the perfect conclusion to this most festive day. Christmas for Junior Guests
Christmas is traditionally a time for children and our junior guests will truly experience all the joy of Christmas from the moment they arrive at Great Southern Killarney. Children will be greeted as VIKs (Very Important Kids!) and will begin their Christmas sojourn with their own special children’s afternoon tea. The excitement will grow as they enter their bedroom to find a Christmas tree aglow and perfectly poised for Santa Claus’ visit! Early to bed (no doubt!) on Christmas Eve to allow for all the excitement of Santa’s arrival. After the delight of gift giving on Christmas morning, junior guests enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch and the afternoon is full of thrills with a surprise visit from Santa Claus himself. Father Christmas will arrive full of fun and laden with gifts for the children and each child will be made to feel extra special as they will receive a gift unique to them. On Stephen’s Day junior guests will be amazed by an afternoon full of excitement as the family departs on a mystery tour of county Kerry. As if that is not enough to keep little ones entertained, our junior guests will also have access to Great Southern Killarney’s playroom throughout their stay. Great Southern Killarney is surrounded by 6 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which are equipped with a children’s playground and tennis courts so remember to bring those little hats and scarves and mittens! Every evening, our junior guests will receive a little ‘off to sleep’ supper with a glass of warm milk and our scrumptious homemade cookies delivered to them at bedtime.
