The staff & owners of The Malton Killarney have been honoured with one of the most prestigious awards within the travel industry. The readers of Condé Nast Traveller magazine, a collection of some of the most discerning travellers across the world, voted for The Malton in the magazine’s famous Readers’ Choice Awards where the hotel was awarded 9th place in the Top 10 Hotels in Ireland category. The team at The Malton are particularly delighted with this award as it is the first time that the hotel has made the Readers’ Choice Awards and to add to this, they came in the top position for Kerry hotels.
The Malton came under proud new ownership of the Scally family in November 2014. With a long tradition in hospitality, the third generation of the Scally family are now at the helm of the family’s businesses which include the 5 star Hayfield Manor in Cork and the 4 star boutique hotel, Killarney Royal. Proprietor, Joe Scally, received the exciting news of the Condé Nast award with great pride, “This award is particularly welcome as it comes, not from a panel of industry judges, but from guests who have actually stayed with us and who voted for us because of the experience that they enjoyed while they were here. The Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Award is a very special award with the voting totally unsolicited and we are so grateful to our guests who proactively took the time to vote for The Malton.”
Following a busy first year in business for the Scally’s at The Malton, exciting plans are now underway and in February 2016, The Malton Killarney will reopen its doors with a completed extensive bedroom refurbishment and also a new look to the hotel’s magnificent Victorian Grand Foyer. Brian Scally, Operations Director at The Malton stated “We are very proud to have The Malton Killarney as part of our family business and our focus now is to manage and develop the hotel with passion and ambition to restore The Malton’s rightful place as Killarney’s premier historic hotel.”
The team at The Malton are thrilled with this good news.
